Maker recently withdrew from the Carlisle School in Virginia to make the switch. His guardian, Ed Smith, accepted a role on Blunt’s staff as part of the switch, leading many to draw conclusions that the decision to head up north involved ulterior motives.

Maker shot down those allegations on Twitter on Saturday, citing better competition and gameplay in Canada as part of the reason for the move.
