In the developers’ recent game update, a Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling Into Darkness trailer was unveiled, and it was announced that the official release window of the title is Fall 2022. The trailer showed snippets of story cutscenes, character creation, and the in-game battle system. Fans will likely appreciate that the game will have an original story by the manga’s author, Akihito Tsukushi, and that it still follows the adventures of the manga’s protagonists Riko and Reg, to some extent.

Alongside the release date announcement of the Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling Into Darkness video game, a collector’s edition was also revealed by Spike Chunsoft. Available for both PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch, the collector’s edition will retail for $89.99. Bundled with the game are several physical bonuses such as a hardcover “cave-raiding” notebook and a 24-inch x 36-inch cloth poster featuring new art by the team behind the Made in Abyss anime. For hardcore fans who are really into the manga and anime series, these items may be something interesting to add to their personal collection.

Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness will be released two months after the new Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun anime, which is set to air July 2022. Hopefully this gives players enough time to catch up to the story before they boot up the video game.

Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness will launch on September 2 on Nintendo Switch, PC, and PS4.
